Sequel to My Big Fat Greek Wedding on the…
Yup, the rumors are true. The most successful independent movie ever, the one we have seen and can quote the entire scripts, is returning with a sequel. After the TV series based on the film bombed and was detracted after the third week, Nia Vardalos will be resurrecting the Portokalos family for the story of what happens after the wedding and the bi-cultural couple lives happily ever after. The comedian told Mashable that the script took her four years to write, and that she shelved it until finishing the book tour for her bestselling memoir, “Instant Mom,” about adopting her daughter in 2008 after a 10-year struggle to become a parent.
“I’m working on the MBFGWedding sequel; now that I’m experiencing motherhood I feel ready to write this next chapter,” Vardalos, 51, wrote on Twitter.
While John Corbett, her cute WASPy teacher hubby, will not be playing across her, the story will feature Vardalos’ real-life adopted daughter. “You will not see my daughter in the movie. She’s a minor and we keep her life private, but she will be on set with the family, eating their way through craft services.”
Hey, if the movie makes us laugh as hard and as long as the first one, it can’t come any faster.
